Bulgarian President visits the Bullitt Center

On May 16, 2012, President Rosen Plevneliev of Bulgaria visited the Bullitt Center. In the United States for the NATO Summit in Chicago, the president was interested to learn more about energy efficiency and green building – two topics he has made a priority for his administration.

Seattle City Council President Sally Clark welcomed the president during a presentation in Downtown Seattle ahead of the tour. Next, Chris Rogers (Point32), Brian Court (Miller Hull Partnership) and Amanda Sturgeon (International Living Future Institute) provided an overview of the project in a short presentation.

With full presidential motorcade and Secret Service escort, the presidential entourage moved up Madison Street to the Bullitt Center site to tour the project. As a the former Minister of Construction and a commercial real estate developer, President Plevneliev asked thoughtful questions and spent an hour digging into the details of what makes the Bullitt Center the greenest commercial building in the world.

In an interview with Valerie Bauman from the Puget Sound Business Journal, President Plevneliev said, “if you look at the revolutionary and pioneering approach at the Bullitt Center, it deserves for many presidents – not just for one – to come here.”
